StepAtlas Privacy Policy

StepAtlas is designed to provide step tracking, activity statistics, personal records, and walking-distance Journeys while minimizing the collection of personal information.

Apple Health

With your permission, StepAtlas reads Step Count and Walking + Running Distance from Apple Health.

This information is used to display your activity, trends, personal records, and Journey progress.

StepAtlas does not write to or modify your Apple Health data.

Health data accessed by StepAtlas is not sold, used for advertising, or shared with third parties for marketing purposes.

Accounts and Personal Information

Core activity tracking and Personal Journeys do not require an account. Optional Social features use Sign in with Apple. When you use Social, StepAtlas stores an account identifier, your display name and handle, your sharing preferences, and your friend connections.

Optional Social Sharing

When you enable Social Sharing, StepAtlas sends limited daily activity totals, including steps, daily goals, and walking/running distance, to its Supabase-hosted service. These totals are linked to your Social account and support Friends, leaderboards, Challenges, and Journey Races. Individual Apple Health samples are not uploaded.

StepAtlas also stores Challenge and Journey Race information you create or join, including names, participation, dates, and selected race destinations. Accepted friends and relevant Challenge or Race participants can see the activity totals and participation information needed for those features.

You can turn off Social Sharing in Social Settings to stop activity sharing. You can also delete your Social account from the app. Turning off sharing does not itself delete previously stored Social data. You may contact us using the address below with privacy or deletion questions.

Purchases

StepAtlas offers optional one-time purchases for Journeys, Challenges, and All Access. Purchases are processed by Apple. To verify Challenges and All Access and provide access, StepAtlas sends signed transaction information to its server and stores purchase identifiers, product and entitlement status linked to your Social account. StepAtlas does not receive or store your payment-card information.

Advertising and Tracking

StepAtlas does not contain third-party advertising and does not use your Health data for advertising or tracking.

Data Sharing

StepAtlas does not sell your personal information or Apple Health data. Supabase provides hosting and authentication services for the optional Social features. Data is used to operate those features and verify access, not for third-party advertising or advertising tracking.

Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated as StepAtlas evolves. Any changes will be posted on this page.
